Dettol Cool has extended its hygiene awareness campaign to the Lagos National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp, encouraging corps members to prioritize proper hygiene even in demanding and physically active environments. The visit formed part of the brand’s ongoing #OwnTheSweat 2.0 initiative, a campaign designed to promote good hygiene practices among Nigerians as they go about their daily activities.

At the camp, corps members participated in a series of engaging activities, including fitness challenges, dance competitions, and interactive quizzes led by renowned fitness instructor, Ekemini “Kemen” Ekerette. Participants who excelled in the various activities were recognized as “Cool Champions” and rewarded with Dettol Cool branded merchandise.

Speaking on the initiative, the Marketing Director of Reckitt West Africa, Boma Harrison, said the campaign was created to connect with Nigerians in spaces where they are most active while reinforcing the importance of maintaining proper hygiene.

“With #OwnTheSweat 2.0 by Dettol Cool, we wanted to go beyond awareness and create real, engaging experiences in spaces where people are most active, such as the gym. It’s about showing that staying cool, fresh and maintaining good hygiene can be simple, even in demanding conditions. You can rely on Dettol Cool to get the job done,” Harrison said.

The company observed that rising temperatures across Nigeria in recent months have made it increasingly challenging for many people to stay fresh and comfortable.

“Over the past two months, soaring temperatures across Nigeria have made staying fresh and comfortable more difficult. From navigating crowded spaces in sweltering conditions to repeatedly wiping away sweat, the discomfort has been widespread. For those with active lifestyles or constantly on the move, maintaining proper hygiene has become even more demanding,” the company stated.

“The initiative came to life through a series of pop-up activations engaging participants in real time and reinforcing the connection between active living and everyday hygiene. Rather than simply promoting freshness, the initiative demonstrated how it fits seamlessly into daily routines,” the company added.

The campaign began in key fitness hubs across the country, where participants took part in instructor-led fitness challenges aimed at transforming routine workouts into engaging experiences while highlighting the role of hygiene in maintaining an active lifestyle.
