Dr. Mgbenkemdi Withdraws From ASUU-ESUT Chairmanship Election

Dr. Ejike Hyacinth Mgbenkemdi has withdrawn from the ASUU-ESUT chairmanship election, citing personal reasons. His decision leaves Professor Eneje Lawrence and Professor Nnamani Emeka as the remaining candidates.

Dr. Ejike Hyacinth Mgbenkemdi has officially withdrawn from the chairmanship race for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) branch. The election, scheduled for Thursday, August 29, will now proceed with two remaining candidates.

Dr. Mgbenkemdi's withdrawal was communicated in a letter dated August 25, 2024, addressed to the ASUU-ESUT Electoral Committee. In his letter, Dr. Mgbenkemdi cited personal reasons for his decision and did not endorse any of the remaining candidates.

"I write to inform you that I have stepped down from the ASUU-ESUT chairmanship election for personal reasons. Sorry for the inconveniences this might cause you and your team," Dr. Mgbenkemdi stated in the letter.

With Dr. Mgbenkemdi's exit, the race now focuses on Professor Eneje Lawrence and Professor Nnamani Emeka. The election will be held at two locations: the Board Room of the ESUT College of Medicine, Enugu, and the Prof Julius Onah Auditorium, ESUT, Agbani, both starting at 9:00 AM.
