Ebonyi State University (EBSU) marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a momentous event today, uniting stakeholders from across the state to tackle pressing issues affecting young people. Led by SUG President Comrade Oshim Tobias Nkwegu, the event featured impactful speeches and initiatives aimed at promoting a drug-free campus environment.
Highlighting the occasion was a keynote address by Chief Mrs. Uzoamaka Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru, Wife of the State Governor, hosted in collaboration with Barr. Mrs. Felicia Nwamkpuma, Commissioner of Women Affairs, and the NDLEA Director for Ebonyi State. Discussions centered on engaging youth as ambassadors against drug abuse and fostering healthy lifestyles, culminating in Her Excellency's endorsement of a student Ambassadorship initiative.

In a pioneering move, Comrade Nkwegu unveiled plans for the "Drug Abuse Campus Club," a partnership with NDLEA designed to raise awareness and combat substance abuse among students. This initiative underscores EBSU's commitment to proactive community engagement and student welfare.
The event underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing drug-related challenges, reflecting Ebonyi State's dedication to nurturing a safer and healthier campus environment.
