The Edo State Government has announced that all public and private schools in the state will resume the 2024/25 academic session on Monday, September 30, 2024. This follows an earlier postponement from the initial resumption date of September 9, 2024.

In a statement issued on Sunday, September 22, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, the government addressed recent rumors about an earlier resumption date. Akin-Longe clarified that fake information had been circulating, suggesting that schools would reopen on Monday, September 23, 2024, which he called "the work of mischief makers." He urged parents and guardians to disregard the false notification.

"We want to reiterate that the official resumption date for all public and private schools in Edo State is September 30, 2024," said Akin-Longe. "The government appreciates the cooperation and understanding of parents, guardians, and stakeholders as we ensure a smooth transition into the new academic year."
