Edo State University Graduates First Set of Postgraduate Students in 5th Convocation Ceremony
During a press briefing as part of the activities leading to the convocation, Prof Aluyor provided details regarding the students' academic achievements
Edo State University Uzairue is set to graduate a total of 414 undergraduate students, including its first set of postgraduate students, at the 5th convocation ceremony, as announced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Emmanuel Aluyor.
During a press briefing as part of the activities leading to the convocation, Prof Aluyor provided details regarding the students' academic achievements. Among the graduates, 12 students will receive first-class honors, 154 will achieve second-class honors (Upper Division), 234 will attain second-class honors (Lower Division), and 14 will earn third-class degrees.

Prof Aluyor revealed that out of the 14 Ph.D. candidates at the institution, nine have completed their programs, and four have successfully completed their M.Sc and M.A. degrees. Additionally, 38 students will receive postgraduate Diplomas.
The Vice Chancellor noted that the university has received approval from the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce new postgraduate programs, including Nursing Science, Law, and Civil Engineering. He also mentioned that the NUC had conducted resource verification visits for various new programs, and academic activities will soon commence in these departments.

The university's consistent growth and ability to attract more students are showcased by the expected growth to over 4,500 students by the end of the current admission process.

The 5th convocation lecture, titled 'Harnessing The Potentials of Nigerian Youth for National Unity And Development,' will be delivered by Brig. Gen. Yushau Dogara Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps.In recognition of their significant contributions to the development of Nigeria, the university will confer honorary doctorate degrees on two distinguished Nigerians, Dr. Mrs. Owen Omogiafo and Mr. Eric Idiahi.
