Ekiti State University Team Wins First Place in National Young Engineers Innovation Competition

A team of young engineers from the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has secured first place in the 2025 National Young Engineers Innovation Competition, a prestigious event organized annually by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

The winning team, composed of team lead Engr. Kehinde Abiodun Dare, MNSE, and recent graduates Ajayi Oluwapelumi Oluwatosin, Owoyomi Mercy Opeyemi, and Ologuntoye Ayomide Abidemi, triumphed with their innovative project: ‘Design and Implementation of a Solar-Powered Smart Walking Stick for Visually Impaired Persons.’

The national award was formally presented by the President and Chairman in Council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, during the opening ceremony of the 2025 International Conference, Exhibition, and Annual General Meeting. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
