A female student from Ekiti State University (EKSU) has accused Professor Adefolaju Adeseke of sexual assault. According to her petition to the Omolade Asake Foundation, Adeseke allegedly forced himself on her in his office despite her protests.

A serious allegation of sexual assault has emerged at Ekiti State University (EKSU) involving Professor Adefolaju Adeseke from the Department of Theatre and Media Arts. A female student has accused the professor of forcibly engaging in sexual activities with her in his office.

In a petition addressed to the Omolade Asake Foundation and dated July 24, 2024, the student detailed her harrowing experience. She claimed that after a staff wedding, Adeseke invited her to his office under the guise of a meeting. During the visit, she alleges that Adeseke locked the door and assaulted her despite her explicit refusals.

The student described an unsettling series of encounters with Adeseke, starting from an initial incident where he attempted to engage in sexual activity after an evening at a hotel, to multiple subsequent assaults. She mentioned being coerced into compliance due to his authoritative position within the university and fear of jeopardizing her academic progress.

Professor Adeseke has not yet responded to requests for comment, citing unavailability. University staff, who spoke on condition of anonymity, have suggested that such behavior may be part of a pattern, with claims that Adeseke has previously exploited students.

The Omolade Asake Foundation has confirmed that they are investigating the allegations and are in the process of collecting testimonies from other potential victims. Akinola Emmanuel, media consultant for the foundation, indicated that they are also monitoring the progress of a panel investigating the case and are committed to ensuring that this matter is addressed thoroughly.
