EKSU to Confer Honorary Doctorate Degrees on Adeboye, Adeniyi, and Others at 28th Convocation Ceremony
The Ekiti State University (EKSU) is preparing to hold its 28th Convocation ceremonies, during which honorary doctoral degrees will be conferred upon prominent individuals including Pastor E.A Adeboye and Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo.
The Ekiti State University (EKSU) is set to bestow honorary doctoral degrees upon several distinguished Nigerians during its upcoming 28th Convocation ceremonies. The Vice Chancellor of EKSU, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, made this announcement during a press conference addressing the event.

Among the notable awardees are Pastor E.A Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, the first civilian governor of Ekiti State, former secretary of health Prince Julius Adeluyi, and Princess Folorunsho Alakija.
Prof. Olanipekun also revealed that the university would be celebrating 91 First Class graduates alongside numerous other second class graduates during the convocation ceremonies. Notably, EKSU's commitment to academic excellence was underscored by the achievement of five First Class Law graduates at the 2024 call to bar.

Additionally, Prof. Olanipekun disclosed disciplinary actions taken against staff and students involved in various misconducts within the institution. Nine staff members were dismissed, 10 appointments were terminated, and further actions such as warnings, suspensions, and expulsions were undertaken.
Regarding academic achievements, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the induction of 58 new medical doctors into the profession by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria earlier in the year. He also noted the approval of 16 new academic programs, including BSc Mass Communication, BSc International Relations, Ph.D. Surgery, and Ph.D. Medicine, among others.
Prof. Olanipekun expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its intervention funds, particularly from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and Needs Assessment, which facilitated the completion of numerous campus projects.
The Vice Chancellor acknowledged the significant contributions of the university's esteemed graduates and their mentors, emphasizing their role in enhancing the institution's reputation.
The 28th Convocation ceremony of EKSU is scheduled to take place on April 3rd and 4th, 2024, marking a momentous occasion in recognizing academic excellence and notable contributions to society.
