The ongoing student examinations at the University of Ilorin remain unaffected despite the seven-day warning strike initiated by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) on Monday.

Members of the academic staff have been assigned to oversee the examinations during this period to prevent any disruptions, as confirmed by Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Director of Corporate Affairs at the University of Ilorin.

The strike, in compliance with a national directive from the two unions, was initiated to protest the perceived unfair treatment and disparity in the payment of withheld salaries by the Federal Government.

Despite the strike, which saw members of SSANU and NASU convene a congress at the university gate before dispersing to their respective homes, student examinations have continued as scheduled.

Comrade Zuberu Ibrahim, the chairman of NASU at the University of Ilorin, affirmed the complete compliance of members with the strike directive, stating that congresses will continue for the next seven days.

Similarly, Comrade Segun Alabi, the Public Relations Officer of SSANU at the University, confirmed the full adherence of members to the strike, emphasizing that members dispersed to their homes immediately after the congress held at the university gate.
