Federal Government to Relaunch School Feeding Program
The Bola Tinubu-led federal government is set to relaunch the suspended school feeding programme.
The Bola Tinubu-led federal government is set to relaunch the suspended school feeding programme. The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, announced that the government would ensure adequate resources are available to support and sustain educational programmes across the country. This announcement was made during a visit by the House of Representatives Committee on Alternative Education.
Edun highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the issue of out-of-school children in Nigeria through various financial strategies and programmes. One of the key initiatives is the relaunch of the ‘Home-Grown School Feeding Program,’ aimed at increasing school attendance by providing meals to students. Edun emphasized that feeding children at school would improve their health and well-being and incentivize them to remain in school, thereby reducing the number of out-of-school children.
The government is also focusing on innovative initiatives like the “Secretariat for Financing Safe Schools” to ensure the safety and security of students. Edun expressed optimism that these initiatives would positively impact the national budget and provide sufficient resources to support and sustain educational programs.
As the government continues to prioritize education, Edun assured that Nigeria’s future generations can expect improved access to quality learning, setting the stage for a brighter and more prosperous tomorrow.
