The Federal government has instructed principals to reactivate essential school clubs and societies such as agricultural, press, literary, and debating societies to engage students' minds with constructive activities.

This directive aims to create an environment that empowers students to make positive choices and resist the allure of vices that threaten to derail their potential.

Yusuf Sununu, the Minister of State for Education, made this announcement during a sensitization event involving parents, teachers, students, and other stakeholders to combat vices in secondary schools in Abuja.

Sununu emphasized the importance of the triads of learning, character, and imparting skills, especially during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to renewing hope in the educational sector.

He highlighted the detrimental impact of vices such as substance abuse, bullying, and destructive behavior on students' well-being, academic progress, and emotional and social development. Sununu stressed the collective responsibility to address these issues and create an environment conducive to growth.

Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, the Director of the Senior Secondary Education Department, echoed concerns about the infiltration of vices in educational institutions, emphasizing the need for unity among parents, teachers, and students to eradicate these vices and restore the sanctity of schools.
