The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny has significantly strengthened the capacity and operational efficiency of its Health Centre with the supply of drugs and medical accessories valued at over ₦20 million.

The consignment, received on Monday, January 19, 2026, was formally handed over to the Director of Medical Services, Dr. (Mrs.) Virginia Uche, as part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery for students and staff.
The initiative was driven by the Polytechnic Management under the leadership of the Rector, Dr. Victor Okolobah, following growing recognition of the critical role adequate drug availability plays in the effectiveness of health centres. Consistent access to essential medicines is widely acknowledged as a key factor influencing patient confidence, healthcare utilisation, and overall health outcomes.
Management noted that shortages of essential drugs often lead to low patronage of health facilities and increased dependence on informal or substandard alternatives. The latest intervention is therefore aimed at ensuring reliable, affordable, and quality healthcare services within the Polytechnic community.
Speaking on the development, officials described the investment as part of a broader commitment to institutional development, stressing that health remains a foundational pillar of productivity, workforce efficiency, and sustainable growth. By prioritising healthcare, the Polytechnic is positioning itself to support a healthier, more productive academic environment.

The Management reaffirmed its commitment to continuous improvement across all sectors of the institution, noting that the strengthening of the Health Centre reflects a broader vision of progress and long-term development at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.
The development was conveyed in a statement signed by Anthony Ogbe (SAR)(MCAI), Public Relations Officer.
