A small section of the ground floor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria suffered a fire incident on Friday afternoon, as reported by the Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Auwalu Umar, in a statement released to newsmen in Kaduna on Friday night.

The incident, confined to a room housing an electrical distribution board, occurred around 4:15 p.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, as no immediate determination could be made, according to the statement.

Thankfully, there were no injuries or casualties reported. The fire primarily affected the distribution board and some outdated public address systems. The statement highlighted that the university's firefighters, alongside security personnel, promptly contained the situation, preventing further damage.

Power has been restored to the building, ensuring minimal disruption. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kabiru Bala, personally visited the scene, accompanied by management staff and numerous sympathizers.
