Devin Jackson, once a street hawker selling tickets for tourists, has defied the odds to emerge as a successful software engineer and coding instructor, inspiring countless individuals with his remarkable journey.

Growing up in New York, Devin's path to success was unconventional. Lacking the opportunity to attend high school or university, he found himself selling T-shirts and tickets for tourists in Times Square to make ends meet.

Despite these challenges, Devin's determination led him to coding workshops, where he received scholarships for Python and data-analysis boot camps. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for technology, setting him on a transformative path.

In 2013, Devin officially embarked on his tech career as an IT help-desk intern at Accenture, followed by a role as a full-stack developer at a boutique software firm in Brooklyn. As he navigated the tech industry, Devin became acutely aware of the underrepresentation of Black engineers, spurring him to take action.

In 2017, Devin co-founded "We Build Black," a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the Black community through technical education and professional advancement. Through meet-ups, training courses, and workshops, the organization aims to create opportunities for aspiring Black engineers to thrive.

Driven by a desire to give back and address systemic inequalities, Devin has led "We Build Black" to remarkable success. Over the years, the organization has raised millions of dollars, hosted numerous events, and supported thousands of members in advancing their careers.

Today, Devin serves as a senior software engineer at LeafLink, a cannabis-tech firm in the United States, while continuing to inspire and uplift his community through "We Build Black."
