Four students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) have been awarded ₦250,000 each under the Gbemiga Abiodun Educational Support Programme — a multi-million naira scholarship initiative established by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in memory of his late son, Gbemiga.

The award ceremony, held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Iperu Remo, saw 932 indigent students across Ogun State benefit from scholarships totaling over ₦252 million in the third edition of the annual initiative.
The FUNAAB beneficiaries are Emmanuel Balogun, a 100-level Physics student; Olanrewaju Ayomide, a 200-level Data Science student; Zainab Rabiu, a 200-level Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering student; and Ifetayo Osukoya, a 300-level Microbiology student.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, at the event was Prof. Iyabode Kehinde, Dean of the College of Biosciences (COLBIOS) and Programme Coordinator for the University. Her presence highlighted FUNAAB’s acknowledgment of the initiative’s contribution to improving access to education across the state.

The event was organized by the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, led by Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, and attended by several dignitaries, parents, and students.
In his address, Reverend Bola Oyeledun, Coordinator of the Gbemiga Abiodun Foundation, described the programme as “a heartfelt tribute that continues to transform lives,” adding that since its inception in 2023, the scheme has provided financial relief and motivation to nearly a thousand students at various educational levels.
Prof. Arigbabu explained that the scholarship awards were structured to support students at all stages of learning — ₦50,000 for primary pupils, ₦100,000 for secondary school students, ₦150,000 for those in technical colleges, and ₦250,000 for tertiary institution students — describing the initiative as a vital investment in Ogun State’s educational future.

In an emotional address, Governor Dapo Abiodun reflected on the dual significance of the day — both as a memorial of his late son and a celebration of the enduring legacy of education.
