Four Nigerian JSS2 Students Selected for Silicon Valley Tech Summit with AgriConnect App

Four talented female students from Jacob’s Well High School International in Port Harcourt have been selected to attend this year’s World Technovation Girls Challenge in Silicon Valley, California. Tejiri (12), Salome Akhabhau (11), Excel Barile-Nwika (11), and Goodness Nwonanne-Chima (12) developed an innovative android application named AgriConnect aimed at addressing hunger issues in Nigeria.

Scheduled between October 15 and 19, 2024, the summit will gather young female android application developers from around the world. The girls, affectionately known as the Smart Elite, emerged as finalists in the beginners division (ages 8-12) among 11,000 participants from 69 countries, including the USA, UK, Japan, China, Canada, and Spain.

Under the mentorship of Code Ambassadors, these students excelled with AgriConnect, which stood out among 3,200 android applications developed globally. Their achievement earned them special recognition and an invitation to the technovation summit, fully funded to promote their app's potential impact.

Mrs. Egondu Jacob, the school’s coordinator and proprietress, expressed pride in the students’ accomplishment, noting their app was the only one from Nigeria and Africa to reach the final round and receive a special award. She emphasized the school’s commitment to nurturing tech talent among its students, highlighting their previous successes in international competitions.
