FRSC, Kano Command to Collaborate with BUK on Special Marshal Engagement

The Federal Road Safety Commission's Kano State Sector is set to join forces with Bayero University, Kano, for research and staff training to enhance the capacity of its personnel, as revealed by Sector Commander Ibrahim S. Abubakar on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor.

Commander Abubakar, a former student of Bayero University, expressed the purpose of the visit to strengthen the relationship between the University and FRSC, Kano Command. He highlighted the services provided to the community, including awareness on traffic rules, driver sensitization training, issuance of driver's licenses, and vehicle tracking.

Noteworthy achievements mentioned by Commander Abubakar included training a substantial number of staff at the Nigeria Police Force and Kano State Government on traffic regulations. He extended this initiative to Bayero University, recognizing its national importance.

In a separate segment, the Department of Crop Protection at Bayero University, Kano, honored Dr. A. Togola for his dedicated service. Dr. Togola, formerly associated with IITA, Kano Station, received accolades for his role as a co-lecturer and supervisor to postgraduate students.

Commander Abubakar revealed plans to engage BUK staff voluntarily in road safety work (Special Marshal). Vice-Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas commended FRSC for its significant contributions to driver education in the country. Prof. Abbas assured the University's willingness to collaborate on research, short-term courses, and other relevant programs.

Emphasizing the University's commitment to community service, Prof. Abbas expressed openness to admitting FRSC staff and their children under special considerations. He thanked the FRSC team for their gesture and pledged to notify interested staff after receiving guidelines for the Special Marshal program.

The visit concluded with the presentation of plaques and customized souvenirs to the FRSC team, along with a group photograph capturing the collaborative spirit between BUK and FRSC, Kano Command."
