FUD Students Demand Refund of NELFUND Loan
Students of the Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State have written an open letter to the university management, demanding a refund of the NELFUND loan disbursed to them several months ago.
The students, who are beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), claim that despite numerous promises and assurances, the loan has yet to be utilized for its intended purpose.
The students alleged that the university administration has been unresponsive to their inquiries, and they are seeking a refund of the loan. They also expressed disappointment with the Student Union Government (SUG) PRO's suggestion that the account information submitted by the students was incorrect, stating that they have verified and re-verified their account details.
The students urged the university administration to take immediate action to refund the NELFUND loan, failure of which will lead to further action, including reporting the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). They also emphasized the need for transparent management of students' funds and accountability.
The NELFUND loan is a government initiative aimed at supporting students' education and welfare . The loan is disbursed to eligible students, and repayment is expected after graduation. The FUD students' demand for a refund highlights the need for effective communication and transparency in the management of students' funds.
