FUD SUG Announces Outcome of Portal Reopening Request for Newly Admitted Students
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Federal University Dutse (FUD) has released an official update regarding its advocacy efforts to reopen the university’s central registration portal for the current academic session.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the Union addressed the concerns of newly admitted students who, despite paying their acceptance fees, were unable to complete their central registration before the portal was closed.
Advocacy and Management Engagement
The SUG President, Comrade Isah Ibrahim, noted that the Union engaged in extensive deliberations with the University Management, including the Vice-Chancellor, to explore potential solutions for the affected students. The Union highlighted the "difficult and frustrating" nature of the situation for those caught in the administrative deadlock.
Final Decision on Portal Reopening
Following these high-level engagements, the University authorities clarified that reopening the central registration portal is currently beyond the institution's capacity. The management explained that such an action would contravene existing university regulations and the strict operational guidelines established by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Union’s Response to the Outcome
Expressing deep empathy for the affected students, Comrade Ibrahim stated that while the outcome was not what the Union had hoped for, all available channels of advocacy had been exhausted.
"We truly share in the disappointment and deeply empathize with every student affected by this situation," the statement read. The Union further commended the students for their patience and cooperation throughout the negotiation process, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and interests of the student body.
The announcement marks the conclusion of the Union’s formal request for a portal extension, as the institution moves forward with its current academic calendar.
