FUE Zaria Advances Smart Learning Initiative, Signs Strategic MoU with Hadis Foundation
In a remarkable development that further strengthens its commitment to technology-driven education, the Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Habiba Dangana (Hadis) Foundation and commissioned a newly established Smart Classroom facility.
The Habiba Dangana (HADIS) Foundation is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting women's rights, gender equality, civic participation, and the protection of vulnerable groups.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, and the Founder/CEO of the Hadis Foundation, Hajiya Habiba Dangana, on behalf of two respective organizations.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Prof. Bunkure expressed profound appreciation to the Foundation for constructing and equipping the Smart Classroom, describing the intervention as timely and highly beneficial to the University's ongoing drive towards digital transformation.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the facility was donated at a critical time when the University is intensifying efforts to automate its academic and administrative processes, particularly teaching and learning activities.

He assured the Foundation that the Smart Classroom would be fully utilized to enhance teaching effectiveness and improve learning outcomes for all categories of students, including those with physical challenges.
Prof. Bunkure further stated that the University's Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) would oversee the maintenance and effective utilization of the facility to ensure its sustainability and maximum impact.
According to him, the newly commissioned Smart Classroom is only the second of its kind in the University, making it a significant addition to the institution's digital learning infrastructure.
The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted progress made by the institution since its transition from a Federal College of Education to a Federal University of Education. He commended the contributions of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Suleiman Balarabe, and other members of the management team for their commitment and dedication to the growth and success of the institution.
Prof. Bunkure equally acknowledged and appreciated Malam Maina Yakubu for facilitating the partnership and securing the project for the University, noting that his efforts played a significant role in bringing the intervention to fruition.
In her remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of the Hadis Foundation, Hajiya Habiba Dangana, expressed delight at partnering with the University in advancing technology-enhanced learning and educational development.
She stated that the Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that improve access to quality education and empower institutions to meet the demands of the modern digital age. She expressed confidence that the Smart Classroom would contribute significantly to improving teaching, learning, and research activities within the University.
Hajiya Dangana commended the leadership of the University for embracing innovation and creating an enabling environment for meaningful partnerships that promote educational advancement and societal development.
Describing the occasion as the beginning of a fruitful relationship between the Foundation and the University, she reaffirmed the Foundation's readiness to explore further areas of collaboration that would benefit students, staff, and the wider community.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and commissioning of the Smart Classroom were witnessed by members of the University's Management, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Suleiman Balarabe; Acting Registrar, Alhaji Shehu Iya Sa'idu; Acting Bursar, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Aliyu; Acting University Librarian, Malam Abdul Tijjani; Acting Director of Procurement, Malam Abdullahi Maiwada; Chief of Staff to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Sani Ibrahim Wambai; and Malam Abubakar Sani Adda'u, among others.
