The Management of the Federal University of Environment and Technology (FUET), Koroma/Saakpenwa, Ogoni, has paid a royal homage to His Royal Majesty, King (Dr.) Baridam Suanu Timothy Yormaadam, JP, Amb.P, FNIS, FCSI, FNIM, Finr-S.A, MCArb, the Gbenemene and Kasimene of the Ancient Bangha Kingdom, Ogoni Land VIII, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with the traditional institution and seek royal blessings for the University’s successful take-off.

The Management of the Federal University of Environment and Technology (FUET), Koroma/Saakpenwa, Ogoni, has paid a royal homage to His Royal Majesty, King (Dr.) Baridam Suanu Timothy Yormaadam, JP, Amb.P, FNIS, FCSI, FNIM, Finr-S.A, MCArb, the Gbenemene and Kasimene of the Ancient Bangha Kingdom, Ogoni Land VIII, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with the traditional institution and seek royal blessings for the University’s successful take-off.

The visit, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Prince Chinedu Mmom, JP, DSSRS, symbolized FUET’s commitment to building a harmonious relationship with its host communities while laying the groundwork for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.

In his address, Professor Mmom expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception accorded to the University Management and called on community leaders, traditional rulers, and youths to support the institution in fulfilling its mandate.

“I believe that as leaders of our various communities, one of the greatest responsibilities we owe ourselves and posterity is cooperation. This University is not exclusive to the Ogoni people; it is a Federal University established to serve the entire nation. But when you provide us with peace and the enabling environment to thrive, development will follow, employment opportunities will open, and progress will come to the land,” he stated.

The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the significance of having distinguished sons of Bangha Kingdom, such as Professor Don Baridam, the Pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, actively involved in the University’s development.

“Professor Don Baridam stands as a bridge between academia and the community. I believe that with his guidance and your royal blessings, FUET will grow into a model of excellence in environmental research, teaching, and innovation,” he said.

Reaffirming the University’s commitment to environmental stewardship and knowledge-driven progress, Professor Mmom noted that FUET’s establishment represents a turning point in the pursuit of sustainable development across Ogoni land and Nigeria at large.

In his response, His Royal Majesty, King Suanu T. Y. Baridam, commended the FUET Management for recognizing the traditional institution as a vital stakeholder in the University’s growth. He assured the team of the community’s unwavering support and cooperation in ensuring the institution’s success.
