FUGASHUA Vice-Chancellor Reaffirms Drive to Produce Environmentally Conscious Graduates

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Gashua (FUGA), Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing environmentally conscious graduates through its Green Code Initiative.

Professor Geidam made this known while receiving officials of the North-East Arid Zone Development Programme (NEAZDP) during a courtesy visit to the the Vice-Chancellor in his office today Friday 5th June,2026.:The visit formed part of activities marking the 2026 World Environment Day celebration.

The Vice-Chancellor explained that a central component of the initiative is a policy mandating every student to plant and nurture at least one tree before graduation. He noted that the programme is aimed at instilling a culture of environmental responsibility among students while encouraging their active participation in conservation efforts.

Officials of NEAZDP commended the university’s proactive approach, describing the initiative as timely and impactful in promoting environmental stewardship among young Nigerians.
