FULAFIA Enhances Staff Capacity in Environmental Safety and Security

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has taken a significant step in bolstering the capacity of its staff in environmental safety and security.

The Staff Productivity Promotion Unit (SPPU) of the university recently organized a two-day training program for selected personnel from the Directorate of Environmental Safety (DES).

 

The workshop, held at the MIS Multipurpose Hall on the university's Permanent Site Campus, aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of DES staff in addressing current security and environmental challenges within the institution.

Declaring the event open, the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, emphasized the crucial roles played by the security and environmental safety sectors on campus. Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Professor Aleruchi Chuku, Abdul Rahman stressed the importance of collective efforts in protecting lives and property on campus.

 

The training sessions covered topics such as campus crime prevention, access control principles, and report writing and documentation. Participants engaged in discussions and enhanced their understanding of and preparedness for their work during a question-and-answer session.

The Head of SPPU, Mrs. Becky M. Kajo, highlighted the critical roles of DES personnel in providing the initial point of contact for individuals entering the university. She emphasized the significance of effective communication in security operations and the high expectations placed on the staff to safeguard the lives and property of everyone in the university.
