FULafia VC Shehu Rahman Pledges Commitment to Quality Academic Programmes
Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman of FULafia vows to ensure global standards for all academic programmes during MDCN’s inspection visit.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has reaffirmed the university’s commitment to ensuring that all academic programmes, including the MBBS, meet global standards. He made this pledge during a visit by officials from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), who were on an inspection tour of the medical college's facilities.
Prof. Abdul Rahman emphasized the crucial role of medical education in improving healthcare outcomes in Nigeria. “The training of medical professionals is crucial for the healthcare of our people,” he stated. “We understand that the future of healthcare in Nigeria depends on the calibre of doctors we produce.”
The Vice-Chancellor also revealed plans to enhance students’ living and learning environments through the construction of additional hostels and state-of-the-art teaching laboratories to support the university’s growing academic programmes.
Dr. N.U. Nwakanma, the leader of the MDCN team, commended FULafia's efforts in developing its medical school and assured the university of MDCN's continued support and partnership.
In her closing remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor Aleruchi Chuku, thanked the MDCN for its role in ensuring and maintaining high standards in medical education across Nigeria.
The visit marks a key step in FULafia's journey to achieving excellence in medical and other academic programmes.
