The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has emphasized the importance of leadership training in equipping leaders with essential skills for success.  

He made this statement during a one-day special training on "Effective Leadership for New Deans and Deputy Deans," held at the New Senate Chamber of the university's Permanent Site Campus in Lafia.  

Abdul Rahman outlined the benefits of leadership training, including informed decision-making, strategic planning, adaptability, communication skills, personal development, and organizational expertise. He added, "It's not just about moulding individuals into leaders; it's about creating a collaborative, efficient, and innovative work environment where everyone is motivated to achieve their best."

Participants were encouraged to engage actively in the sessions and apply the knowledge gained to their roles.  

Mrs. Becky Kadjo, Head of the Staff Productivity and Promotion Unit (SPPU), in her welcome remarks, noted that the training was organized in collaboration with the Professorial Sub-Committee of the Academic Monitoring Team. She praised the vice-chancellor for facilitating the event, which aimed to prepare deans and deputy deans for effective daily management.

The training covered critical topics such as faculty strategic planning, academic and faculty management, ethical decision-making, financial management, stakeholder engagement, alumni relations, and fundraising opportunities.  

Resource persons included seasoned academics such as Professor Aleruchi Chuku (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs), Professor Ali Is'haq Shugaba (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration), Professor Sama’ila Dakyes (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Partnerships), Professor Ilemona Adofu (Director, Academic Planning), Professor Ibrahim Awwal, and Dr. Fatima Adis Adamude (Acting Director, Linkages and Advancements).  

Participants lauded the training as a vital step toward enhancing leadership capacities within the institution.
