In a significant move to enhance career development and employability prospects for students, the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has officially commissioned the TETFund Career Service Centre, a project funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

The commissioning ceremony, held on July 22, 2025, at the Adankolo Campus, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi.

Speaking at the event, Professor Akinwumi expressed deep satisfaction with the initiative, describing it as a “strategic intervention” aimed at preparing students for life beyond the classroom. He commended TETFund for its foresight and commitment to youth empowerment, noting that the establishment of the Centre aligns with the University’s broader vision of equipping students with practical, market-ready skills.

“I want to appreciate TETFund for their wisdom in conceiving the idea of establishing a Career Service Centre to assist our students,” the Vice-Chancellor stated. He further emphasized the importance of leadership in such centres, explaining that the appointment of Professor Sunday Adewumi as the Director of the Centre was intentional, based on his approachability and capacity to inspire confidence among students.

In his remarks, Professor Sunday Adewumi, the Director of the Centre, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his consistent drive in bringing impactful projects to the University. He described the Centre as a dynamic platform designed to address the evolving career needs of students from FUL and other institutions across the country.
