FULokoja VC Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusion, Assures Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to inclusive education, accessibility, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs), stating that inclusion is a responsibility, not a charitable gesture.

He made the remarks during a courtesy visit by members of the National Association of Applicants with Disabilities to the university.
Prof. Ibileye emphasized that the university will continue to strengthen policies that promote participation and accessibility for PWDs across academic, employment, and infrastructural systems, within the framework of institutional regulations and approvals.
“We are not doing you a favour; it is a duty that we owe you. We will do this and many more,” he said.
He noted that Federal University Lokoja has maintained a long-standing culture of inclusion since its early administrative structure, adding that efforts are ongoing to ensure that persons with disabilities are adequately accommodated in both academic and administrative processes.
The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the institution’s rapid expansion, stating that student population has grown from approximately 235 in 2012 to over 30,000, while staff strength has increased from about 20 to more than 1,600, reflecting its institutional growth trajectory.

He described the university as an inclusive and progressive academic environment that values resilience, determination, and merit-driven success.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of the association, Comrade Samuel Mark, congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his appointment and commended his prompt response to their request for engagement.
He expressed optimism about the university’s leadership direction and acknowledged the institution’s growing reputation, noting that members of the association were encouraged by its recent developmental strides.
