The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has reinforced its dedication to community development and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by renovating classrooms and donating instructional materials to Aaya Community Primary School, located behind the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA).
The initiative, executed by the University’s Technical Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility, transformed the deteriorating school environment into a more conducive setting for learning, underscoring FUNAAB’s people-focused mission that reaches beyond its academic community.

At the official handover of the project on September 26, 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, emphasized that foundational education remains the cornerstone of national progress. He noted that no professional or professor could have succeeded without the grounding of primary school teachers, adding that the renovation was not only a structural upgrade but also a deliberate investment in teachers tasked with raising future leaders. Prof. Kehinde also made a personal financial contribution to further support the school.
The Head Teacher, Mrs. Dorcas Gbenjo, expressed deep gratitude, describing the intervention as both “timely and life-saving.” She disclosed that pupils in Primary 4–6 had previously studied in unsafe conditions until FUNAAB’s swift action restored the facilities. Despite the limited timeframe before resumption, she praised the University for completing the project promptly.
Pupils, represented by the Head Boy, Master Semilogo Babalola, conveyed their appreciation, while community leaders, including Mr. Solomon Omonitan and Mrs. Augusta Edun, commended FUNAAB for extending educational support to grassroots communities.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by senior University officials such as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo; the Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga; Chairman of the CSR Committee, Prof. Biodun Badmus; alongside other members of the Committee.

Through this effort, FUNAAB once again positioned itself as a citadel of learning and a driving force for positive social and educational transformation at the community level.
