FUNAAB Vice-Chancellor Congratulates China on 75th Anniversary, Highlights Agricultural Collaboration
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, extended heartfelt congratulations to the citizens of the People’s Republic of China on the 75th anniversary of the Republic’s founding.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, extended heartfelt congratulations to the citizens of the People’s Republic of China on the 75th anniversary of the Republic’s founding. The celebration took place on September 16, 2024, during a reception at Oriental Hotels in Lagos.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde with the DVC, Academic, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi and the Head, Office of Advancement, Mr. Johnson Olukehinde, including some members of the Diplomatic Corps of the Chinese Consulate in Lagos.
In his address, Prof. Kehinde underscored the long-standing partnership between FUNAAB and China, highlighting shared objectives in agricultural innovation and food security. He stressed the importance of strengthening collaborations between both parties, particularly in agricultural research and technological advancements to boost sustainable food production in Nigeria.
“As a leading university in agricultural research, FUNAAB is eager to deepen cooperation with China, especially in leveraging technology for sustainable food production,” remarked Prof. Kehinde. He also extended an invitation to the Consul-General of China in Nigeria, Her Excellency Ms. Yan Yuqing, to deliver a public lecture at FUNAAB.

Ms. Yan Yuqing expressed her gratitude for the ongoing collaboration and affirmed China’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s agricultural development. She welcomed the opportunity to visit FUNAAB, reiterating that China sees the university as a strategic partner in achieving agricultural growth.
