FUNAAB Welcomes Japanese Professors, Aims for Global Academic Collaboration
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) recently hosted three distinguished Japanese professors, marking a key step in international collaboration. The visitors included Prof. Juichi Inada and Associate Prof. Fu Hoi from Senshu University, along with Prof. Yuichi Sasaoka from Meiji University.
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has hosted three esteemed professors from Japan, marking a significant milestone in fostering international partnerships. The distinguished visitors included Prof. Juichi Inada from the Department of International Economics, Senshu University; Associate Prof. Fu Hoi, also from Senshu University; and Prof. Yuichi Sasaoka, Dean of the Graduate School of Global Governance, Meiji University. This visit marked their first trip to Nigeria, specifically to Abeokuta.
During a courtesy visit to FUNAAB's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Japanese scholars expressed their excitement about the University’s esteemed reputation as Africa’s leading agricultural institution, which ranks seventh globally. Their visit underscores FUNAAB's international recognition and potential for academic collaboration.
Prof. Kehinde welcomed the professors warmly, emphasizing the University’s readiness to partner with their esteemed institutions. He reiterated FUNAAB's commitment to developing global relationships that enhance research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building across its diverse academic disciplines. "We are excited to have you here and look forward to forging partnerships that will benefit not only our University but the global academic community," said the Vice-Chancellor.
Following their meeting, the guests toured the Nimbe Adedipe Library, the Postgraduate School, and the College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD). The visiting professors praised the infrastructural developments and the academic environment at FUNAAB, noting that it rivals some of the world’s top institutions. Prof. Sasaoka remarked, "The infrastructure here is impressive, and we are excited about the possibility of collaboration."
This visit highlights FUNAAB's dedication to expanding its global network and positions the University as a key player in international academic partnerships. As discussions progress, both institutions are optimistic about potential joint research projects, faculty exchanges, and student mobility programs in the near future.
