FUTA Alumnus John Akinloye Wins Unity Bank’s Entrepreneurship Competition at NYSC Orientation Camp

John Akinloye, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), won Unity Bank's Entrepreneurship Competition held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Cross River State. Out of 120 entries, Akinloye's business idea was awarded first place, earning him a grant of N800,000.

John Akinloye, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has clinched the top prize in Unity Bank’s Entrepreneurship Competition held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Cross River State. Akinloye's innovative business idea outshone 120 entries submitted by fellow National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, earning him a substantial grant of N800,000.

The competition, part of Unity Bank’s initiative to foster youth entrepreneurship, saw Akinloye's business plan selected among the top 10 entries. On September 13, 2024, Akinloye presented his pitch, demonstrating originality and employability, which led to his victory as the best entry.

Reflecting on his achievement, Akinloye expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by Unity Bank and acknowledged the support he received from various individuals and organizations. In his own words:

"One with God is MAJORITY! Thanks be to God, almighty who has given me life and grace. Just three weeks ago, I arrived in Cross River State for my NYSC Orientation Camp. It was never what I wanted but I had to go. Fast forward a week, Unity Bank introduced the Corpreneurship opportunity, and I seized it. I wrote my business plan, and was selected among the top 10 from over 120 participants. Presenting my pitch was rigorous, but I emerged as the best.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to Unity Bank PLC for their ongoing support of youth. With this grant, I will diligently use it for farming, and I believe that with time, this investment will grow significantly.
