The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has officially announced its combined 34th and 35th Convocation Ceremonies, scheduled to hold from Friday, November 22, to Saturday, November 30, 2024. The weeklong event will celebrate the academic achievements of graduating students, bringing together parents, guardians, and stakeholders.

According to a release signed by Charles Olusegun Adeleye, Registrar and Secretary to Council, the ceremonies will feature a series of activities, including a Press Briefing, Excellence and Productivity Awards, Career Talks, a Convocation Lecture, and Award of Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificates.

Key Highlights of the Program:

  • November 22: Press Briefing at T. I. Francis Auditorium and Jumat Service at FUTA Central Mosque.
  • November 24: Interdenominational Service at the Chapel of Faith.
  • November 27: Convocation Meeting and Award of Diplomas and First Degrees.
  • November 30: Award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, Doctorate Degrees, and Honorary Degrees at Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium.

Guidelines for Graduating Students:

  • Graduates must participate in the academic procession fully robed in approved academic gowns, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis after fee payment.
  • Payments are required for specially designed scrolls, official paraphernalia, and an e-copy of the Order of Proceedings.
  • Ph.D. students must purchase designated academic gowns through the School of Postgraduate Studies.
  • Robing starts at 8:00 a.m. at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium car park, and the procession begins at 8:30 a.m. Latecomers or improperly robed students will not be allowed to join.
  • Graduates are prohibited from leaving or re-entering the venue during the ceremony.

Parents and members of the public will not be allowed inside the main auditorium but can follow live proceedings through designated digital screens in special areas.
