FUTA Names Professor Philip Oguntunde as Director of Advancement Centre
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has appointed Professor Philip Oguntunde, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) and senior member of the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, as the new Director of the University’s Advancement Centre.

The appointment, confirmed by Vice-Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji, took effect on August 1, 2025, and spans a two-year term.
According to the university’s announcement, Professor Oguntunde will oversee the daily operations of the Advancement Centre, collaborating closely with the Vice-Chancellor to implement initiatives that align with FUTA’s strategic objectives. He is expected to provide visionary leadership, mentor colleagues, and utilize his extensive experience to further the University’s pursuit of excellence.
The appointment letter specifies that Professor Oguntunde will supervise all Centre activities, with emphasis on mobilizing human and material resources to achieve its goals. His responsibilities include developing fundraising strategies, leading endowment and foundation campaigns, adopting best practices in endowment investment management, and strengthening partnerships, alumni relations, and institutional development.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji expressed confidence that Professor Oguntunde would perform his duties with dedication and vigor, noting that the Advancement Centre is pivotal to driving FUTA’s growth and enhancing its global competitiveness.
By virtue of this appointment, Professor Oguntunde also joins University Management, contributing to the sustenance of peace, harmony, and progress within the institution.
