The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has issued a warning that it will withdraw the certificates of any alumni found culpable of misconduct.

Prof. Adenike Oladiji, Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, made this statement on Friday during the university’s 36th Convocation and Award of First Degrees, where a total of 2,747 students graduated.

Oladiji provided a breakdown of the graduating students, noting that 240 students graduated with First Class honours in the 2024/2025 academic session. She added that 1,479 students were in the Second Class (Upper Division) category, 912 students were in the Second Class (Lower Division) category, and 116 students were in the Third Class category.

Highlighting individual achievements, the Vice-Chancellor named Mr. Aduragbemi Akindunbi from the Department of Civil Engineering as the overall best graduating student, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.98.

Also addressing the convocation, the Pro-Chancellor of FUTA, Prof. Nora Daduut, commended President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative, describing it as a transformative programme aimed at taking Nigeria to greater heights and enhancing the country’s global reputation.

Prof. Daduut, who detailed the achievements of the institution’s Governing Council, said that the council had maintained a strong and collaborative relationship with both staff and students. She emphasised that staff welfare was a priority, with ongoing training and capacity-building initiatives to boost productivity.

In addition, she highlighted the impact of the student loan scheme, noting that no fewer than 3,000 students at FUTA have benefited from the programme, which is part of President Tinubu’s initiative to make tertiary education more accessible and seamless.
