FUTA VC Reaffirms Commitment to Upgrading University Health Centre
The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Akure, Adenike Oladiji, has reaffirmed the university’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through the continuous upgrading of its Health Centre toward full hospital status.

She made this known on April 25, 2026, while receiving the management team of the university’s Health Centre led by the Acting Director of Health Services, Emmanuel Onyema.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated Emmanuel Onyema on his appointment following the retirement of the former Director, James Famuyiwa, and urged staff members of the Health Centre to support the new leadership in ensuring efficient healthcare delivery for students and staff of the institution.
According to her, the appointment represents a call to greater responsibility and service within the university community.
She noted that quality healthcare remains critical to institutional development and human wellbeing, adding that the university management would continue to provide the necessary support and resources required to improve healthcare operations within the institution.
Adenike Oladiji also reiterated the university’s broader goal of transforming the Health Centre into a more functional medical facility capable of delivering improved clinical and emergency services.
Earlier, the Acting Director of Health Services, Emmanuel Onyema, expressed appreciation to the university management for what he described as a transparent appointment process.

He also congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on the successful accreditation of the university’s medical programmes by the National Universities Commission and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
The Acting Director pledged the commitment of the Health Centre management to improving healthcare delivery through innovation, accountability, efficiency, and patient-centred services.
