The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has issued a public warning to prospective candidates, parents, guardians, and sponsors over the activities of fraudsters and impostors falsely claiming to offer admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has issued a public warning to prospective candidates, parents, guardians, and sponsors over the activities of fraudsters and impostors falsely claiming to offer admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.
In a statement released by the university, management said its attention had been drawn to individuals attempting to defraud members of the public by promising admission opportunities purportedly on behalf of FUTA.
The university clarified that admissions into FUTA, like other tertiary institutions in Nigeria, are conducted under the supervision of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) through a process that is carefully monitored and protected from both internal and external manipulation.
According to the institution, the admission exercise has not yet reached the stage where offers are being made to candidates. It explained that only the registration of prospective applicants seeking consideration for admission is currently ongoing.

FUTA therefore urged prospective candidates, their parents, sponsors, and the general public to disregard false claims by individuals offering admission in exchange for money or other forms of gratification.
The university warned that some scammers are spreading misleading information about the admission process while attempting to exploit unsuspecting candidates through fraudulent admission offers.
Management also advised candidates, parents, and guardians not to pay money to any individual or group for result checking, result uploading, admission processing, or attempts to influence the admission process.
The institution stressed that admission into FUTA is strictly based on merit and cannot be influenced through unofficial channels or financial inducements.
