FUTH Lafia Special Treatment Clinic Achieves Breakthroughs in HIV Patient Care

The Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia has recorded notable progress in HIV patient care, with many patients showing significant health improvements through consistent use of antiretroviral therapy (ART).

Dr Blessing Anyuabga, a focal person with the clinic explains patient improvements in treatment with progress in the area of increased CD4 counts, viral load suppression, reduced opportunistic infections, and improved body weight and overall well-being, noting that although some patients experience mild initial side effects, effective counseling, monitoring, and timely medical support help most adapt successfully to treatment.

Patients at the STC clinic benefit from comprehensive care that includes routine clinical evaluations, regular viral load testing, adherence counseling, and psychosocial support, with adverse drug reactions promptly managed, treatment regimens adjusted when necessary to ensure effectiveness and tolerance which have contributed to a growing number of patients achieving undetectable viral load levels, a major indicator of treatment success.
