Go-Health Board Congratulates Gombe State University Vice-Chancellor

The Governing Board of the Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (Go-Health) has paid a congratulatory visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, following his confirmation as the substantive head of the institution.

The delegation, led by the Board Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Isah Umar, was warmly received by the university management. Other members of the delegation included Barr. Muhammad Ismail Hinna, Mr. Yusuf Aish Bello, Dr. Abubakar Musa, and Mr. U. Tanimu Umar.

Presenting a formal congratulatory letter on behalf of the board, Dr. Umar described Professor Yauta’s appointment as “a testament to his hard work, commitment, and dedication to academic excellence and leadership,” noting with pride that he is the first home-grown Vice-Chancellor of the university.

Dr. Umar particularly commended the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Go-Health and the university, which birthed the Tertiary Health Social Insurance Programme for students. He applauded Professor Yauta’s pivotal role in facilitating the agreement, stressing that it has provided students with access to affordable and sustainable healthcare services.

The Chairman further expressed optimism that the partnership would be expanded to cover university staff and their families, thereby easing their access to quality healthcare.

In his response, Professor Yauta expressed deep appreciation for the visit, describing it as both an honor and encouragement. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to sustaining the partnership with Go-Health, recalling that discussions on the initiative began during his tenure as Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that plans are underway to extend the health insurance scheme to part-time students, while discussions are ongoing on modalities to include staff, particularly those in the lower cadres, in the programme.
