Gombe State University Honors Self-Taught Inventor with Honorary Doctorate

Dr. Hadi Usman, a 70-year-old Nigerian inventor, has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Science and Innovation by Gombe State University for his outstanding contributions to technology and innovation.

Despite lacking formal Western education, Usman has invented numerous groundbreaking gadgets, including a helicopter built with a Vespa engine, a water-powered stove, and a fuel-less generator.

Usman's remarkable journey began in 1971, and he has since accumulated 78 inventions. His notable creations include the first radio station transmitter in Gombe (1978) and a receiver that can pick up voices from different locations. He was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Physics at Gombe State University in 2022, where he teaches electronics and satellite installation.
