The lecture was delivered by Professor Sani Adamu of the Department of Chemical Pathology, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, College of Medical Sciences. This lecture marked the first inaugural lecture from the department.

Gombe State University Hosts 12th Inaugural Lecture

Gombe State University (GSU) hosted its 12th Inaugural Lecture on Tuesday, 26th November 2024, at the Haruna Kadir Rasheed Hall (New MPH), GSU. The lecture was delivered by Professor Sani Adamu of the Department of Chemical Pathology, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, College of Medical Sciences. This lecture marked the first inaugural lecture from the department.  

Professor Adamu's presentation, titled "Toxicology versus Nutrition; Pro-Oxidants versus Antioxidants: Each Coin with Two Sides—Which One is the Killer?" explored the complex balance between harmful and beneficial compounds in human nutrition and toxicology, emphasizing their health implications.

The event was attended by prominent guests, including the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, Dr. Yusuf Abdullahi, Vice Chancellors, heads of higher institutions, Deans, Directors, and other dignitaries.  

In his opening remarks, Professor Muhammad Gurama Dukku, Chairman of the Gombe State University Ceremonies Committee, highlighted the importance of inaugural lectures in promoting academic excellence. The University Librarian, Dr. Henry Maina Abareh, delivered the welcome address, congratulating Professor Adamu and the Department of Chemical Pathology for their academic achievements.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, Professor Manga Mohammed, who expressed appreciation for the support and presence of the attendees.  

The 12th Inaugural Lecture was a significant milestone for the university, further enhancing its reputation for academic and intellectual advancement.
