In a remarkable display of academic collaboration and excellence, Gombe State University (GSU) witnessed an engaging 100-level inter-departmental quiz competition on Saturday, November 23, 2024. The event, organized by Ustaazu Academy, saw participation from seven departments in the College of Medical Sciences and three departments from the Faculty of Sciences.
The quiz competition unfolded in two rounds. In the first round, five departments were eliminated, while the remaining five advanced to the final stage. The MBBS department emerged victorious, clinching the first position, followed closely by the Pharmacy department in second place, and the Anatomy department in third place.
The competition was the brainchild of Ali Ali Mohammed, founder of Ustaazu Academy. Established earlier this year, the academy offers free tutorials in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Anatomy to GSU’s 100-level students. With a focus on enhancing academic performance, the academy has quickly gained recognition for its commitment to education and academic development within the university community.
Speaking after the event, Ali Ali Mohammed expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from his colleagues who contributed to the program's success. “Alhamdulillah, I am delighted to see how this free and non-profit academy is growing. This quiz competition and our tutorials are part of my efforts to ensure improved academic performance among the younger generation,” he said.
He further acknowledged the volunteers who made the event not only successful but also memorable, offering prayers for their continued blessings.
As a non-profit initiative, Ustaazu Academy reflects a strong commitment to fostering academic excellence and collaboration among students. The academy has become a beacon of hope and support for many first-year students at GSU.
