GOSSA President-Elect Condemns Violent Attack on Female Student

The National President-Elect of the Gombe State Students’ Association (GOSSA), Rt. Comrade Muhammad Al-amin Murtala, has issued a stern ultimatum to the management of Gombe State University following a violent security breach that left a female student injured.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, January 23, 2026, Comrade Murtala disclosed findings from a fact-finding mission carried out by student leaders in response to the assault on a 400-level student inside her hostel room—an area meant to be a secure environment for students.

According to reports, the victim was attacked by an unidentified intruder who unlawfully gained access to the female hostel, inflicting injuries before fleeing the scene. After personally meeting with the student, the GOSSA President-Elect described the incident as a “tragic and unacceptable” failure of the university’s security system.

“This is not just an attack on one student; it is an attack on the safety, dignity, and fundamental rights of all students,” Murtala said. “Students deserve to sleep with both eyes closed, not one eye open. Hostels should be places of safety, not fear.”
