Gov Aiyedatiwa Denies Certificate Forgery Allegations

Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has swiftly debunked a report alleging his involvement in a certificate forgery scandal. The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, dismissed the report as false and the handiwork of political detractors attempting to tarnish the new governor's image. Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office less than two weeks ago on December 27, 2023, following the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, refutes the accusations against him.

Adeniyan, in a statement titled 'Certificates: the blackmailers are at it again,' labels the forgery allegations as both false and mischievous. He reveals that an unnamed governorship aspirant is allegedly orchestrating the smear campaign against Governor Aiyedatiwa. The aide explains that these accusations come as part of a broader strategy aimed at discrediting the governor ahead of the upcoming September governorship election in Ondo State.

During the statement, Adeniyan highlights that the governor's credentials were duly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2020 governorship election, and they are publicly accessible. The Chief Press Secretary accuses desperate elements of using faceless groups and individuals to fabricate allegations of certificate forgery against the governor.

The statement reads, "Mr. Governor contested in a joint ticket with his former principal in the 2020 governorship election and his credentials were duly submitted to the INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) and they are in the public domain." Adeniyan expresses the governor's unwavering commitment to the development of Ondo State and emphasizes that he will not be distracted by the alleged shenanigans of shameless politicians and their cronies.
