Governor Ademola Adeleke has pledged accelerated actions to improve students' welfare in Osun State following a productive closed-door meeting with student leaders on Tuesday evening at the Government House.

The meeting, coordinated by Oladejo Bashiru Aderoju, the Governor’s aide on student matters, included prominent student union representatives such as Akinnibi Mufutau, President of the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS); Ogungbe Taiwo, Chairman of NANS JCC; and Bamigboye Peter, NANS Zone D head. The discussions focused on addressing critical issues affecting students and enhancing governance for Osun residents.

Student leaders expressed appreciation for the Governor's efforts in areas like worker welfare and infrastructure upgrades, urging further expansion and improvement of campus road networks. Ogungbe Taiwo highlighted the progress made under Adeleke’s administration and called for greater student involvement in state policy-making. Bamigboye Peter noted that while many student demands are being met, additional efforts are needed.

Governor Adeleke responded positively, acknowledging the student leaders' contributions and emphasizing his administration’s commitment to youth and student issues. He outlined the challenges faced by the state, including economic difficulties and infrastructure deficits, and detailed ongoing efforts to address these issues through a comprehensive action plan.

“We understand the critical state of our campuses and the broader challenges facing our youth,” said Adeleke. “Your feedback is valuable and will aid in our efforts to improve the student experience and address your concerns.”

The Governor assured the student leaders that their submissions would be reviewed and addressed promptly. He directed the Commissioners for Youth and Education to work on the details of the students’ requests and report back with updates.

Student leaders present at the meeting included representatives from various institutions such as Osun State University, Osun State Polytechnic, and Federal Polytechnic Ede, among others.

Governor Adeleke concluded the meeting by encouraging students to maintain peace on their campuses and report back to their peers about the positive steps being taken by the government.
