Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, has organised a one-day capacity-building workshop for non-teaching staff as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, improve workplace efficiency and enhance service delivery across the institution.

Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, has organised a one-day capacity-building workshop for non-teaching staff as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, improve workplace efficiency and enhance service delivery across the institution.

The training, organised by the Directorate of Counselling, Human Development and Career Services Centre (DCHDCSC), brought together staff drawn from six key directorates of the university, including the Bursary, Procurement, Audit, Information and Public Relations, Physical Planning, Works and Services, and the Health Centre.

Speaking at the workshop, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bayode Isaiah Popoola, represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor T. A. Fawehinmi, described the programme as timely and impactful, noting that it would sharpen participants' professional skills and improve their effectiveness in their respective roles.

He commended the Directorate of Counselling, Human Development and Career Services Centre for the initiative and reaffirmed the university management's commitment to supporting programmes that promote staff development and institutional growth.

Professor Popoola urged participants to actively engage in the training and apply the knowledge gained to improve service delivery and operational efficiency within the university.

In his welcome address, the Director of the Directorate of Counselling, Human Development and Career Services Centre, Dr. Martins Femi Dada, expressed appreciation to the university management for approving the workshop.

He explained that the training was designed to improve the competencies of non-teaching staff and enhance their competitiveness in today's evolving workplace.

According to him, the workshop theme, "Making Our Personalities Count," was carefully selected to equip participants with practical knowledge and professional values that would enhance efficiency and performance in their various areas of responsibility.

Dr. Dada encouraged participants to put the lessons learned into practice and reaffirmed the directorate's commitment to organising more capacity-building programmes aimed at keeping staff updated with emerging trends and best practices.

Held at the Babatunde Ipaye Lecture Theatre on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the workshop featured presentations by resource persons drawn from within the university.

The facilitators included Engineer Stephen Olawoye of the Directorate of Physical Planning, Works and Services, who represented the Director, Engineer Kehinde Akintade; Dr. I. O. Abimbola of the Directorate of Audit; the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Ibukunoluwa Edisson Johnson; and Mrs. Olatuyi Oluseto Abidemi of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.

Presentations focused on key areas of institutional administration, including integrating facility management, workplace safety and professional integrity for enhanced service delivery; effective financial management and compliance through the roles of bursary, procurement and internal audit in promoting accountability and institutional sustainability; ethics, professionalism and effective response in university health services; and strengthening strategic communication and public relations to improve institutional visibility and reputation.
