Governor Mutfwang Announces Construction of 55 New Secondary Schools in Plateau

The Plateau State Government has awarded contracts for the construction of 55 new secondary schools across the state. Governor Caleb Mutfwang announced the development on Wednesday in Jos.
The new schools will include 35 junior secondary and 20 senior secondary schools. This initiative is part of the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project, funded by the World Bank, and aims to enhance the educational infrastructure in the state.
Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of these projects in empowering the girl child and improving educational standards. He stressed that the construction will meet high standards, with strict adherence to specifications and oversight to ensure quality.
The governor highlighted that the projects would be funded through loans and urged contractors to comply with the set guidelines. Mohammed Nyalun, the state commissioner for secondary education, expressed gratitude to the World Bank and federal government for their support.
Shirinkpo Maina, AGILE's project coordinator in Plateau, noted that the new schools will lay the foundation for inclusive and quality education for all children in the state.
