Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, has called on the newly deployed corps members to embrace the guiding principles of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to ensure a successful and impactful service year. Governor Sule made this appeal during the Swearing-in Ceremony for the 2024 Batch B, Stream II Orientation Course, held at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Friday, August 30, 2024.
Represented by Hon. Jafaru Ango, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Governor Sule emphasized the importance of the NYSC’s orientation course and bye-laws as foundational elements for a productive service year. In his address, Hon. Ango stated, “The orientation course and the bye-laws of the Scheme serve as guiding principles throughout the service year. I therefore urge you to commit to these principles which provide the framework for an impactful service year.”
Governor Sule also urged the corps members to foster unity and peaceful coexistence with their peers, despite their diverse cultural and socio-ethnic backgrounds. This, he said, is crucial for promoting a cohesive and indivisible entity within the state.
In her introductory address, Mrs. Salamatu A. Muhammad, the State Coordinator of NYSC Nasarawa, congratulated the newly sworn-in corps members on behalf of Brigadier General Y. D. Ahmed, the Director General of NYSC. She encouraged them to seize the opportunities provided by the orientation course and to prioritize discipline throughout their service.
Notable dignitaries at the ceremony included Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe, the Area Director of North Central Area Office II. A total of 2,059 corps members were sworn in by Hon. Justice Abdullahi Ozegya, who represented the Honourable Chief Judge of Nasarawa State.
The ceremony highlighted the state’s commitment to supporting the NYSC scheme and the importance of the corps members’ role in contributing positively to the state’s development.
