Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has made the state proud by clinching the top position at the South-South Zonal National Campus Debate organised by the National Orientation Agency (NOA).

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has made the state proud by clinching the top position at the South-South Zonal National Campus Debate organised by the National Orientation Agency (NOA).

The competition, held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Golden Tulip Hotel, Port Harcourt, featured six tertiary institutions across the region. IAUE students secured victory with 85 points, defeating their counterparts from five other institutions.

The debate, which focused on the theme “Unity in Diversity: Defining National Identity in Nigeria’s Multicultural Society,” saw the School of Nursing, Cross River State, take second place with 84 points, while Benson Idahosa University, Edo State, finished third with 82 points. Sports University, Delta State, came fourth, Akwa Ibom State University, Uyo, fifth with 77 points, and Law School, Bayelsa, placed sixth with 68 points.

The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Ibiere Ken-Maduako, and the Director of Ideas, Creativity and Innovation, Prof. Samuel Amaele, who also served as Coordinator, trained and prepared the IAUE team for the competition.
