The Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, hosted officials of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for a resource verification exercise on newly introduced academic programmes.

Leader of the NUC team, Professor Charity Aremu, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State, commended the University Management for the warm reception and stated that the exercise was to evaluate the institution’s preparedness to run the new programmes in line with NUC standards. She noted that the outcome of the visit would determine the report submitted to the Commission, while also praising the conducive and serene learning environment provided by IAUE.

Vice Chancellor of IAUE, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, thanked the team for honouring the invitation and explained that the University mounted the new programmes to meet the growing demand for academic opportunities. He assured the delegation of the institution’s readiness and commitment to cooperate fully with the verification process.

Director of Academic Planning, Professor Joseph Kinanee, expressed gratitude to the team and pledged maximum support throughout the exercise.

Public Relations Officer of IAUE, Dr. Ngozi Okiridu, described the visit as a significant step in strengthening the University’s academic offerings.

The exercise covered the following new programmes: Environmental Management, Agricultural Economics and Extension, Animal Science, Crop and Soil Science, and Fisheries.
