The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) recently conducted the inauguration of 30 Schools Anti-Corruption Clubs in secondary schools across Abia State. The event, held at Ibeku Secondary School, Umuahia, Abia State, aimed at fostering ethical values and integrity among students.

The inauguration featured a series of engaging activities and enlightenment programs emphasizing the importance of cultivating a culture of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct among youths.

Mr. Peter Alumbugu, the ICPC Imo State Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC), commended the students for their dedication to combating corruption. He urged them to uphold integrity and serve as role models to their peers.

Representing the Abia State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Uche Eme, Deaconess Hope Nwosu highlighted the government's zero-tolerance stance on corruption. She stressed the proactive nature of establishing Anti-Corruption Clubs to address concerns within the education sector, urging students to embrace discipline and hard work.

Mrs. Chinwe Egbeocha, an Assistant Director with ICPC, delivered a lecture titled "Corruption and the Imperatives of Anti-Corruption Clubs in Secondary Schools," enlightening students on the purpose and objectives of the clubs. She urged them to reject corrupt practices and report any instances to school authorities and ICPC.

The event concluded with the administration of an oath of membership to students, symbolizing their commitment to upholding ethical values and fighting corruption within their institutions.

Dignitaries present included principals from participating schools and members of the ICPC/NYSC Anti-Corruption CDS group.
